Water and electrolytes

What a horse loses in sweat

A horse loses water and electrolytes through sweat in every training session, every competition and every long trip in a horsebox, and foals also lose fluids during digestive episodes. If these losses are not replaced in time, the animal takes longer to recover, drinks less well and performs worse over the following days.

01
Training and competitions

Every effort costs water and salts.

02
Long journeys

Transport dehydrates and disrupts the routine.

03
Foals

Fluid losses in the first months of life.

What it brings to your farm

Five reasons to keep it in the stable

Hydration before and after exercise

Keeps the horse optimally hydrated during training, events and competitions.

Electrolyte replacement

Supplies sodium, potassium and chloride together with glucose, in an isotonic solution.

Recovery after transport

Supports recovery from dehydration caused by travel and changes of stabling.

Return to performance

Speeds up the return to normal physiological status and to sporting performance.

Foals

Nutritional support to replace the fluids lost during digestive episodes in the first stages of life.

How it works

An isotonic solution

Once dissolved, it supplies, in isotonic proportion, glucose and the electrolytes the horse loses in these situations (sodium, potassium and chloride), together with bicarbonate. It thus helps to restore water and electrolyte balance and speeds up the return to normal physiological status and to sporting performance.

STEP 1

Glucose

Provides energy and supports the absorption of water and sodium.

STEP 2

Electrolytes

Sodium, potassium and chlorides, the ones lost in sweat.

STEP 3

Bicarbonate

Completes the electrolyte supply of the formula.

Directions for use

Dissolved in drinking water

Orally, dissolved in drinking water. Label directions:

1
Preparation
30 g of AMBequus Rehidra per litre of drinking water (300 g in 10 litres or 3 kg in 100 litres)
2
Amount of solution
the litres to be given equal the difference between the weight of the healthy animal and the weight of the dehydrated animal
3
Foals
1 to 1.5 litres of solution per feed
4
Period of use
one to three days, if it is the sole feed
5
Suckling foals
do not mix the solution with milk replacer and do not give drinking water until two hours after administration
Field example

A horse weighing 500 kg before an event and 490 kg when it finishes has lost about 10 kg; it is offered 10 litres of solution, prepared with 300 g of AMBequus Rehidra.

Horse after transportPractical points
Weigh or estimate the horse's weight before and after exercise or travel to calculate the amount.
Prepare the solution at the time of use and make sure the powder is fully dissolved.
Reseal the bag after each use.
